Tavira is the 3rd largest municipality in the Algarve with about 110 towns and villages. Tavira has a covered area of around 611 Km2 and it's divided in nine civil parishes; Cabanas de Tavira, Cachapo, Conceição de Tavira, Luz de Tavira, Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, Santa Luzia, Santo Estevão, Santa Maria and Santiago. 

Most of these areas are located by the sea and feature beautiful beaches with white sand that seem to go on forever, beautiful fields of orange trees heavy with the scent of blossom, houses with dazzling whitewashed walls and distinctive chimneys.

Tavira town has wonderful features such as the bridge from the time of the Romans, more than 20 churches and squares surrounded by palm trees. Tavira has a large covered market, a beautiful beach on an island and various shops, restaurants and bars. 

The town of Tavira is approximately 25 kilometre from both Faro airport and the Spanish border.
